HAMPTON - Norlinn W. Paine, 79, of Hampton died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at his home in Hampton. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 12, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton with Rev. Marlis Ruth officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
Norlinn was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Hampton to Paul Arthur and Blanche (Bird) Paine. He graduated from Hampton High School and served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. On Dec. 22, 1944, he was united in marriage to Joan McDowell in Hampton. Norlinn was a farmer his entire life. He was a 4-H leader, a member of the American Legion, Anchor Lodge and First Congregational United Church of Christ. Norlinn enjoyed golf, hunting, playing cards and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a son, Michael, and wife Barb of Geneva; a daughter, Paula Meyer and husband Duane of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchildren, Allison Delperdang of Bancroft and Brandon Paine of Waterloo; a great-grandson, Dylan Delperdang of Burt; a sister, Birdell Butson of Geneva; and brother Marvinn Paine of Mason City. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Birwinn.
Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
