DUMONT - Chester C. Card, 97, of Dumont died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Dumont Care Center. Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont, with burial following in the Dumont Cemetery.
Chester was born Jan. 2, 1906, at Geneva to Harry and Minnetta (Ahrens) Card. He received his education in the Dumont school system. On Dec. 5, 1923, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Bulten at Allison. Chester farmed and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and raising exotic animals. He took Dumont kids camping every year, canoed down the river every Sunday morning to go fishing and went to Canada with his boys to fish.
Survivors include his three sons, Dallas and wife Lavonne of Alexander, Delores "Toot" and wife Phyllis of Hampton, and Robert and wife Barbara of Dumont; one daughter, Judy John and friend Kenneth Wahl of Des Moines; two daughters-in-law, Henrietta Card of Allison and Agnes Card of Parkersburg; three sisters, Lorraine Mannatt, Oneata Stackhouse and Overna "Tootie" Card all of Hampton; one brother, Harry, and wife Betty of Hampton; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Clifton and Donald, a granddaughter, Jolene; a grandson, Duane; one brother; and four sisters.
