Harry Burkle, 80, of Aplington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, following a heart attack. Funeral services for Harry Burkle will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Ackley, Iowa. Burial will follow at the St. Peter’s Cemetery, rural Geneva, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Linn’s Funeral Homes Ackley, Iowa chapel.

Harry Burkle was born January 7, 1923, in Reeves Township, Franklin County, Iowa, the son of John and Gertie [ Heitland ] Burkle. He did not attend school and never married.

Harry entered the Hardin County Car Facility in 1954, transferring to the Maple Manor Village, Aplington, Iowa, in 1996 after the care facility closed.

He was a friend of the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, rural Genva, Iowa.

Harry was an active participant in the activities of Maple Manor and greatly enjoyed the music and church services. He was always ready to go on the van rides to visit area events and activities.

Harry is survived by four nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Gertie Burkle; one sister: Adeline Cobie; and two brothers: his twin: Harold, and Johnie Burkle.
