ACKLEY-Duane Anthony Oelmann, 77, of Ackley, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Ackley with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Tim Diehl will officiate.
Duane was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Ackley to William and Gesina Kannegietor Oelmann. On Sept. 8, 1948, he married Ruth Hofmeister at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Geneva and they farmed southeast of Ackley. He was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Ackley.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Ackley; a daughter, Velda Hassman, and husband Roy of Parkersburg; four sons, Jade and wife Geri, Lee and wife Cheryl, Gary and wife Katie all of Ackley and Randy and wife Darla of Richwood, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Verne.
Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of arrangements.
