HAMPTON-Thelma Mae Showalter, 84, of Hampton, died at home in Eldora, on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Miller officiated.

Thelma was born July 2, 1917, in Taylor County, Mo., to Delbert and Ada McClousky Jones. She graduated from Colo High School and on Feb. 20, 1941, she married Charles Showalter in Hampton. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Hampton United Methodist Church. Thelma enjoyed baking, canning, collecting antiques, bowling and golf.

She is survived by a daughter, Norene and her husband, Jim Johnson, of Eldora; two sons, Richard and wife, Shari, of Hampton, and Steven and wife, Bonnie, of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Noel Jones of Boone; three sisters, Beverly Brayton and husband, Don, of Eagle Grove, Connie Lunn and husband, Frank, of Harcourt, and Patty Lunn and husband, Jim, of Otho. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; and a sister.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton, was in charge of arrangements.
