MONTICELLO-Dave Pingel, 47, of Monticello, formerly of Iowa Falls, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. Services were held Monday, Aug. 20, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, with Rev. Russ Surls presiding.

Dave was born March 10, 1954, in Fort Dodge, to Duane and Jean Smith Pingel. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School and attended the University of Iowa and received a bachelor's degree in business and psychology. He was a warehouse manager at J &P Cycles. On Jan. 10, 1981, Dave married Debra Waid in Eldora.

He is survived by his wife, Deb; a son, Michael and his wife, Summer, of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Jonah David; his mother, Jean Pingel of Monticello; two brothers, Jeff and wife, Tamera, of Grapevine, Texas, and Steve and wife, Teresa, of Aurora, Ill.; nieces and nephews, Ben, Amanda, Yessenia and Miguel; and grandmother, Irmgard Pingel of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Michael; a sister, Karel Coyle; and grandparents, Leonard and Esther Smith, and Melvin Pingel.
