IOWA FALLS-Clarence Toomsen, 76, of Iowa Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the family farm in Franklin County. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the Christian Reformed Church in Austinville, with burial in Northlawn Memory Gardens, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family at 414 Ohio St., Iowa Falls.

Clarence was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Franklin County, to Ubbe and Jennie Janssen Toomsen. He attended Sunnyside District 1 Country School and on June 12, 1949, he married Lirlene Schmidt at St. Peter's United Church of Christ parsonage at Geneva. They farmed in Franklin County until retiring to Iowa Falls in 1983. He was a member of the Austinville Christian Reformed Church and had served as deacon and elder on the church board and was a member of the Farmer's Co-op and had served as a board member.

He is survived by his wife, Lirlene; two daughters, Debbra Hartkopp of Hampton, and Vickie Toomsen of Rock Island, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter; five sisters, Elizabeth Spieker of Ackley, Henrietta Miller of Iowa Falls, Christine Schurman and husband, Vic, of Franklin, Neb., Berdean See and husband, Ray, of Independence, and Marian Witte and husband, Merlin, of Cedar Falls; two brothers, John Toomsen and wife, Grace, of Geneva, and Norman Toomsen of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Grace Roske, Johanna Daniels and Florence Schultz; and two brothers, Delbert and Melvin Toomsen.

Linn's Funeral Home of Iowa Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
