HAMPTON-Marie Timmerman, 97, of Hampton, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the Hampton Care Center. Services were held Monday, July 30, at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Robert Conner officiated.

Marie was born Feb. 21, 1904, at Hampton, to Fred and Lillian Showalter Kron. She graduated from Hampton High School and on Jan. 1, 1931, she married Clay Timmerman in Independence. She taught school and was a telephone operator in Hampton. Marie was a lifelong member of the Hampton Methodist Church; worked with 4-H and Farm Bureau; served on the County Extension Commitee and the State Advisory Extension Board; was a Master Farm Homemaker; and was a member of DAR and the Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Marian Alert of Boune Terne, Mo.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, C.J.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton, was in charge of arrangements.
