SHELL LAKE, Wis.- Clara Cross, 88, of Shell Lake, Wis., died Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Spooner Health Systems Nursing Home in Shell Lake. Services will be Thursday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Shell Lake United Methodist Church with burial in Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, on Friday at 1 p.m.

Clara was born Jan. 25, 1913, in Dows, to Wilhelm and Olivia Neilsen Anderson. She spent her youth and attended school in Iowa Falls. In December 1929, she married Russell Reynolds in Eldora, and resided in Iowa Falls until 1949. They moved to Washburn, Wis., and her husband died in 1950. In 1952 she married Fred Cross in Hastings, Minn., and they resided in Hardin County for a time. She later operated restaurants in Illinois and Wisconsin. She was a resident of Rice Lake, Wis., for 14 years and the last 18 years at Lakeland Manor in Shell Lake. She was a member of the Shell Lake United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Louise Butenhoff and husband, Norman, of Shell Lake; two sons, James Reynolds and wife, Linda, of Viroqua, Wis., and Charles Reynolds and wife, Jo, of Shell Lake; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
