ACKLEY-Mary Ann Lupkes, 68, of Ackley, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City. Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Washington Reformed Church, rural Ackley, with burial in the Dumont Cemetery. Rev. Jack Ritsma and Rev. Paul Lupkes officiated.

Mary Ann was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Butler County, to John and Henrietta Muller Lindaman. She attended grade school at the Crooked School House, went to high school in Aplington for two years and graduated from Dumont High School in 1950. In February 1950, she married Corliss McWilliams and after his death in 1959, she married Merlin Lupkes at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont on Aug. 18, 1972. She was an Avon representative; bookkeeper for Swift Fertilizer Plant; and cooked at the Dumont Schools. Mary Ann was member of the Washington Reformed Church at Ackley, was a Sunday School teacher at the Dumont Reformed Church and the Washington Reformed Church. Her hobbies were shopping, gardening, traveling, and she enjoyed horses and farm animals.

She is survived by her husband, Merlin, of Ackley; three daughters, Diane Miller and husband, Wendale, of Dumont, Beverly Warns and husband, James, of Keller, Texas,
and Marilyn Jansma and husband, Kevin, of Ankeny; four sons, Donald McWilliams and wife, Anne of Dumont, Myron Lupkes and wife, Jayne, of Kensett, Wendall Lupkes and wife, Renee, of Waterloo, and Justin Lupkes and wife, Lora, of Eldora; a brother, Dale Lindaman and wife, Shirley, of Dumont; two sisters, Marjorie Laipple and husband, Donald, and Pauline Kline and husband, Gordon, all of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Corliss; and two sisters, Irene Dohlman and Beulah Hudson.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
