HUBBARD-Joyce DeWinter, 73, of Hubbard, died of congestive heart failure Thursday, July 26, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Graveside memorial services were held Sunday, July 29, at the Hubbard Cemetery with Rev. James Premble officiating.

Joyce was born July 19, 1928, in Ocala , Fla. to Arthur and Geraldine Peckum Palmer. On Dec. 31, 1953, she married Robert DeWinter and they moved to Independence, Mo., and then to Blue Springs, Mo., where she owned a hobby store and was active in coaching softball for her daughters. She was a den leader for Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. In 1975, they moved to Hubbard, lived in Jerico, Mo., for a time but then moved back to Hubbard and retired there.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Hubbard; a son, Donald DeWinter of Belton, Mo.; three daughters, Debra Scarlett of Des Moines, Denise Modtland of Webster City, and Deann Borgerson of Pleasantville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Boeke Funeral Home of Hubbard, was in charge of arrangements.
