DUMONT-Zola G. Shear, 96, of Dumont, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at the Dumont Care Center. Services were held Monday, July 16, at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont, with burial in the Dumont Cemetery. Rev. Michael Shaffer officiated.
Zola was born Jan. 28, 1905, in Cissna Park, Ill., to Edwin and Nellie Neeld Judy. She graduated from Hansell High School in 1923 and attended Mankato Business College. On Aug. 26, 1937, she married Kenneth Shear in Hampton. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and the UMW Women; 50-year member and past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star; and was the first president of the Dumont Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, DeWayne Shear and wife, Beulah, of Dumont; two daughters, Sue Campbell of Gladstone, Mo., and Janell Stock and husband, Larry, of Waterloo; two brothers, Lowell Judy of Menden, Nev., and Dorance Judy of Hampton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Max and Maurice Judy.
Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Dumont, was in charge of arrangements.
