DES MOINES-Carol V. Cave, 76, of Des Moines, formerly of Popejoy, died of a heart ailment Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services were held Saturday, July 7 at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home with burial in the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Carol was born July 5, 1924, near Popejoy, to Alvin and Anna Ellingson Benson. She graduated from Popejoy High School and spent the rest of her life in Des Moines. She retired in 1988 as an account clerk for Hawkeye Security Insurance Co. and was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and enjoyed watching Tiger Woods golf.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Cox of Bondurant, and Diana Valadez of Des Moines; a son, James, of Des Moines; a sister, Ruby Anderson of Dows; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eunice Bessman and Vera Jorgenson; and a brother, Wendell Benson.
