ACKLEY-Elizabeth Wiarda, 94, of Ackley, died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 26, at United Methodist Church in Ackley, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley. Rev. Jerry Hoff officiated.

Elizabeth was born Dec. 12, 1906, in Geneva Township near Ackley to Fred and Lydia Baurer Clawson. She was a graduate of Ackley High School. On Feb. 22, 1936, she married Ben Wiarda in Waterloo. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and reading the Bible. Elizabeth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ackley.

Survivors include three sons, Luverne, Tom, and Paul and his wife, Judy, all of Ackley; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth King, of Rollins {Rawlins sp?], Wyo. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben in 1967 and an infant daughter, Sharlene, and one sister, Pearl Clawson.

Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of arrangements.
