WEBSTER CITY-Jerald (Jerry) Rastetter, 78, of Webster City, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at the Hamilton Hospital. Graveside services were Tuesday, June 26 at the Graceland Cemetery with Cindi O'Brien, ministry assistant, officiating. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post No. 191.
Jerry was born Dec. 27, 1922, to William and Lydia Wicks Rastetter at Williams. He received his education at Buckeye. He worked for the Welden Construction Company of Iowa Falls on the Alaskan Highway. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. On Feb. 21, 1954, he married Evelyn Mae Davis at Albert Lea, Minn. The couple resided in Webster City. Jerry had managed Earl May stores in Webster City, Cherokee and Nebraska City, Neb. He worked construction in numerous locations in Nebraska and Iowa. They returned to Webster City in 1970. Following his retirement in 1982, he worked as groundskeeper at Briggs Woods Golf Course, and also worked at Hamilton Antiques. He was a former member of the American Legion Post No. 191 and the VFW.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Davis, and her husband, Terry, of Kamrar, Marjorie Butts of Horatio, Ark., Marilyn Hammermeister and her husband, Roger, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Fitz, of Iowa Falls; two brothers, Don and his wife, Doris, of Jewell, and Ed of Alden; a brother-in-law, Bernard Davis, of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Selmar (Sam) Rastetter.
Foster Funeral Home of Webster City, was in charge of arrangements.
