ALDEN-Kenneth Lycke, 96, formerly of Alden, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Linn's Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls, with inurnment in the Rowan Cemetery.
Kenneth was born Feb. 25, 1905, to Hans and Lena Jones Lycke. He attended public school in Boone. On Sept. 16, 1930, he married Gladys Whitten in the Methodist Church parsonage at Rowan. They farmed at Dike for a time and in 1935, he began working for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway on the section crew, retiring in 1970. They lived in Rowan and in 1986 they moved to Alden. He entered Heritage Care Center in 1999.
He is survived by a daughter, Delores Jackson and husband, Jim, of Rowan; a son Ivan Dean and wife, Elsie, of Alden; five grandchildren Richard Taylor of Rowan, Barbara Hyland of Des Moines, Kevin Lycke of Buckeye, Karl Lycke of Ackley, and Kaylene Lycke of Boone; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Lycke of Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Vera Williams and Lillian Allen; and four brothers, Frank, Lee, Lloyd and Vern.
