ACKLEY-Cecile Jean Flessa, 82, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley, with Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley.
Cecile was born April 7, 1919, in Ackley, to Gesienus and Anna Saathoff Vietor. She graduated from Ackley High School in 1935 and received her teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls. She married Robert Flessa. Cecile was a teacher beginning with a one-room country school in the Ackley area and ending her career as a teacher in the Aplington school system. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ackley.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hendrix of Roanoke, Texas, and Dianne of Prairie Village, Kan.; a brother, Harris Vietor of Iowa Falls, three grandchildren, Dawn Ackerman, Kim Medrick, and Shannon Hill; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert; a brother; and two sisters.
