ELDORA-Florence M. Sword, 106, formerly of Eldora, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Private graveside services were held Tuesday, May 29, at the Eldora City Cemetery. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 23 at 1 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 122 Georgetown Road, Iowa Falls, with Brother Dennis Krukow officiating.
Florence was born June 8, 1894, near Conrad, to John and Fannie Watson Arnold. On Jan. 1, 1914, she married Elmer Sword of Abilene, Kan. They lived on a farm north of Whitten for many years. In 1984 she moved to the Eldora Manor Care Center and in 1993, moved to Scenic Manor. She was a member of the Iowa Falls congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses at Kingdon Hall.
She is survived by a son, Loyd Sword and wife, Leona, of Rochester, Minn.; a sister, Alta Meister of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Cook of Conrad; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, in 1955; a son, Russell; a daughter, Pearl Macrae, a sister, Hazel Doak; and a grandson, Melvin Sword.
