WELLSBURG-Louise S. Claassen, 88, of Wellsburg, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 10:30 a.m., at the United Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Pastor Tom Voss officiating. Burial will follow at Hazel Green Cemetery in rural Ackley. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, from 5-8 p.m., with family present form 6:30-8 p.m. at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.
Louise was born Dec. 7, 1912, in Steamboat Rock, the daughter of Henry and Sarah Lamprecht Eilers. She attended Steamboat Rock High School and graduated in 1930. She was united in marriage to Thomas Claassen on March 28, 1941, at the parsonage of First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock. Louise spent her married life in Wellsburg and resided at Sunrise Hill Care Center for the past four years. She was an Avon representative in Wellsburg for many years. Louise was a long-time member of the Helping Hands Society of the Church. She loved to cook and clean, and was completely devoted to taking care of her family.
Survivors include two sons: Thomas D. and his wife, Valerie, of Garwin, and Craig A. and his wife, Mitzi, of Ackley; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille "Dolly" and her husband, Harry, of Steamboat Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, two sisters: Hannah Marie Eilers and Ruth Ziesman; and a brother, Raymond Eilers.
