FLOYD-Lloyd A. Nott, 85, of Floyd, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Services were held Saturday, June 16, at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, with burial in Sunnyside Gardens, rural Charles City. Pastor Mark Anderson officiated. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Charles City ceremonial unit.

Lloyd was born June 26, 1915, in Donnybrook, N.D., to John and Eva Ritter Nott. He attended school in Manittoe and Ross, N.D. On Nov. 27, 1940, he married Edna Voelker and they made their home in Charles City until moving to Floyd in 1966. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a radio operator. After his discharge he worked as terminal manager for McCoy Transfer in Charles City. When that company was destroyed in the 1968 tornado, he became assistant manager of Briggs Transportation in Mason City. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church; VFW Post No. 3914 and Moose Lodge both of Charles City; and past member of the Teamsters Union and Floyd Lions Club. He served four years as a Floyd city councilman.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna; two sons, Lyle and wife, Karen, of Iowa Falls, and Dennis and wife, Sarah, of Boise, Idaho; two brothers, William Nott and wife, Marlys, and Warren Nott and wife, Evelyn, all of Charles City; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, and a grandchild.

Memorials may directed to the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City.
