PARKERSBURG-Frances M. (Haan) Hugh, 63, of Parkersburg, formerly of Aplington and New Hartford, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, June 16, 2001. Services will be held Wednesday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m., at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. Pastor Frank Pott will officiate.
Frances was born March 12, 1938, in rural New Hartford, to Fred and Alice Sells Hugh. She attended country school and baby-sat for area neighbors. On June 1, 1954, she married Andrew Haan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed north of Aplington and later lived at Beaman and Conrad. They moved to the Prairie View Apartments in Parkersburg in 1996 and were divorced in 1997.
She is survived by her son, Dale Haan, of Shell Rock; a daughter, Kathy Colin and husband, David, of Conrad; two brothers, Donald Hugh of Ackley, and Louie Hugh of Ionia; five sisters, Ida Folken and Lois Bertram, both of Parkersburg, Betty Richter of St. Cloud, Minn., Faye Bass of Bell, Fla., and Joanne Mayfield of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Julie Weers.
