PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.- Donald Dannen, 80, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Alden, died March 25, 2001, in Prescott. Memorial services were held March 29 at Mingus View Presbyterian Church in Prescott Valley with inurnment Saturday, June 9 at 1 p.m. at the Alden Cemetery. Following the inurnment there will be a time of fellowship and remembrances at the Alden Public Library.

Donald was born Oct. 25, 1920, at Melbourne to Ralph and Meta Hartkopp Dannen. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked as a building contractor in Prescott Valley for 25 years. He enjoyed softball and enjoyed working with youth. He was inducted into the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 108 of Prescott Valley; the Mingus View Presbyterian Church, where he helped organize and build the church. He had been married to his wife, Ethel, for 53 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel, of Prescott Valley; two sons, Scott and wife, Jean, of Dewey, Ariz. and Blake of Prescott Valley; a sister, Eleanora Larson of New Hampton and four grandchildren.
