Mrs. Cyndrella Rand, who has been in failing health for many months died at her home in the east part of town at three o'clock Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Lambly, and interment made in the family burial lot in the Buckeye cemetery.

Cyndrella Hirst was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, May 6, 1832. She removed with her parents to Grant county, Wisconsin, in 1847 where, three years later she was united in marriage with Mr. A.T. Rand. A Grant county, Wisconsin, farm continued to be their home for nineteen years after which they removed to Iowa, living for the first few weeks in Alden. During their residence in Alden they purchased the farm in Buckeye township where they continued to reside for thirty years. Four years ago they sold the Buckeye property and moved to Alden again. Mr. Rand died July 6, 1901. Five of the eight children who were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rand survive. They are Mrs. Jas. Snider, Mrs. B. Harmon , Milo Rand, Mrs. H.S. Edwards and Virgil Rand. Mrs. Rand has been a member of the Alden Congregational church ever since her arrival in Iowa with the exception of the short time she was a member of the Buckeye church, and has held a high place in the respect and esteem of our people as she will continue to do in their memories.
