William Kuhfus Dies at Radcliffe

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for William H. Kuhfus, who died Tuesday morning at his home north of Radcliffe. Services were held at the home at 1:30 and at 2:00 p.m. in the Methodist church in Radcliffe, with Rev. L.B. Runion in charge, assisted by Rev. G.H Roths of Evergreen, and Nels Teig of Radcliffe. Burial was in the Radcliffe cemetery.

William Henry Kuhfus was born Feb. 9, 1883 in Sherman township, Hardin county, Iowa. For the past three years has been in failing health due to cancer, which was the cause of his death, which occurred at 8:00 a.m., Oct. 26, 1937, at the age of 53 years, 8 months and 17 days.

William Kuhfus was the third child of Henry and Alvina Kuhfus, pioneer residents of Hardin county. His entire live, with the exception of four years spent in McHenry, S.D., Mr. Kuhfus had lived in Sherman township. For a number of years he lived on the Kuhfus homestead, one-half mile west of Sherman. The past few years was (sic) spent at his farm, one mile north of Radcliffe.

At the age of 14 years he was confirmed in the Zion Evangelical church in Hubbard. At the time of his death he was a member of the Evangelical church at Evergreen.

One March 30, 1910 he was married to Marie Kuhlman, of Hubbard, and to them were born five children, Fay, age 22 and Fern age 17, three sons died in infancy.

Surviving are his widow and two children, five sisters: Mrs Minnie Kuhlman of Hubbard, Ms. Anna Ziesman of Eldora, Mrs Lydia Whykel (sic), Mrs Elsie Topp and Mrs. Clara Topp of Radcliffe and vicinity. Also one brother Fred Kuhfus of Sherman, besides many other relatives and friends.
