Radcliffe Rites for Fred Kuhfus

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church of Radcliffe for Fred Kuhfus, who passed away at his Radcliffe home Sept. 25 (1960) at the age of 73.

The Rev. Rudolf Trusheim officiated with burial in the Radcliffe cemetery. Mr. Kuhfus spent his entire life in the Radcliffe community.

Fred August Kuhfus, the son of Henry and Alvina Kuhfus, was born in Sherman township on Jan. 19, 1887. He was united in marriage to Mae Myrtle Eller on Nov. 17, 1909, with the couple making their home on a farm in Sherman township until retiring to Radcliffe 19 years ago.

In his early years, Mr. Kuhfus was active in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Hubbard. he became a member of the Evergreen Evangelical United Brethren Church, later transferring to the St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church in Radcliffe. Mr. Kuhfus has been in failing health the past three years, having been confined to his home the last 10 months.

Surviving include Mrs. Kuhfus; five children, Carroll of Ellsworth, Maynard, Glenn and Harley of Hubbard and Verna Kielsmeier of Alden; five sisters, Minnie Kuhlman, Anna Ziesman, Lydia Wykle, Clara Topp and Elsie Topp; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Will; and two sisters, Marie Eller and Emma, who died in infancy.
