Earnest J. Cable Rites Wednesday

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Longenecker Funeral home for Earnest J. Cable, 69, of Eldora who passed away Sunday at an Iowa City hospital (11 January 1959).

The Rev. Walter Dimmlich was in charge of services, and Mrs. Robert Longenecker the organist. Burial was in the Eldora cemetery.

Mr. Cable had been an auto mechanic in Eldora for many years and was with the Eldora Motor Co., until his health failed.

He was born in Steamboat Rock July 7, 1889, the son of James and Ellen Cable. He is survived by a brother, Frank of Eldora and a sister, Mrs. Dan Taber of Waterloo, a niece Mrs. Marvin McCann of Waterloo, and three nephews, Lawrence Taber of Waterloo; Harold and Kenneth Cable of Eldora also Miss Pearl Nelson of Eldora.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a brother Vern, who died last April, another brother who died in infancy and a sister, Elsie, who died at the age of 14.

Pallbearers were: Guy Jones, Frank Monaghen, Edgar Coleman, Herb Dawson, D.W. Dickinson, and Donald Speers. Mrs. Frank Monaghen, Mrs. Robert Schmidt and Mrs. E. R. Protheroe were in charge of the flowers.
