Eldora Rites for Harold Cable, 50

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the First Methodist Church of Eldora for Harold Cable, 50-year-old livelong resident of this area who died at University Hospita in Iowa City Tuesday. (7 June 1960)

Cable became ill Monday, at which time he was removed to the Iowa City Hospital.

Pallbearers were Frank Cable, LeRoy Eggleston, James Lettow, Wayne Eggleston, Ronald Vierkandt, and Allan Eggleston with flowerladies Mrs. Arnie Gruelich, Mrs. Russel Balvanz and Mr. Wm. Dobbrunz. The Rev Walter Dimmlich officiated with Mrs. Clement Marsden vocalist, accompied by Mrs. J. D. Leonard at the organ. Burial was iin Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora.

Harold LeRoy Cable, the son of Frank and Myrtle Cable, was born Jan. 12, 1910, on a farm north of Eldora. A graduate of Eldora high school in 1928, Mr. Cable farmed 25 years while also doing part-time carpenter work. At the time of his death, he lived on a farm six miles southwest of Eldora.

He married on Feb. 2, 1935, in Eldora to Helen Ziesman. To this union were born: Mrs. Richard (Ann) Roll, Mrs. Charles (Neva) Reynolds, and Mrs. Wm. (Laura) Ruhnke. Mr. Cable was a former member of the Eldora First Methodist Church later transfering to the Point Pleasant Church.

Mr. Cable was a school board member and Pleasant township trustee for a number of years, being township clerk at the time of his death.

In addition to his children, his is survived by Mrs. Cable, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cable and a brother Kenneth, all of Eldora.
