Charles Smith dies at Garner; Rites Thursday

GARNER - Funeral services for Charles E. Smith, 81, retired farmer and carpenter, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. The Rev. Albert Guthmiller will officiate. Interment will be in the Concord Township Cemetery with the Bohn Funeral Home in charge.

Smith was found dead early Tuesday at his home here by his son, Earl. He apparently died someime during the night Monday. Coroner Glenn Osman, Klemme, attributed death to a heart attack. Smith lived alone. He was born Sept. 10, 1879, at Freeport, Ill., the son of David and Katharine Smith.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. James (Grace) Morrisey, Rowley; Mrs. Floyd (Doris) Nesbit, Clear Lake; three sons, Earl, Garner; Lloyd, Hines, Minn.; and Charles, Bowling Green, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Emily Allen, Freeport, Ill. His wife, an infant son and three brothers, preceded him in death.
