Services Held for Corwith Man who Died on the 4th

Charley V. Oxley Prominent Farmer, Buried Wednesday

Corwith - Fairview: Funeral services for Charles V. Oxley, 60, farmer who had lived south of Corwith, were held on Wednesday afternoon, July 6, at the First Methodist church in Corwith, with the Rev. Karl W. G. Hiller in charge.

Chas Vininton Oxley, son of Joseph and Anna Bedly Oxley, was born on January 6, 1878, and died July 4, 1938. He came to Corwith with his parents when he was a child, and had lived here ever since, except for seven years spent at Randalia, Ia.

Married Frances Mitchell

He was married March 6, 1901, to Frances Mitchell at Corwith and to them four children were born, Lester of Syracuse, New York, Harold, Ralph and Anna Bell, all of Corwith.

Mr. Oxley was a successful farmer, was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekay lodges and was an active worker in the Farm Bureau organization. He possessed a very pleasant disposition, and even through his last months of life, which were filled with much pain and suffering, the same pleasant disposition prevailed.

Wife, Children Survive

Besides his wife and four children, he leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs. Anna Oxley, two brothers, George and James, and a sister, Mrs. D. B. Springer, all of Corwith, a sister Mrs. Paul Curtis of Lakeland, Florida and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pall Bearers were Arthur Sheffleman, Robert Hartvig, Jess Hollinger, Lloyd Sorague, Harley Munn and Clarence Thorson.

Quartette Sings

A male quartette consisting of Emory Long, George Gaskill, Harry Caldwell and Terry Long sang three selections. "Going Down the Valley", "No Night There" and "Face to Face." They were accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Hanswirth. Burial was made in the Corwith cemetery with the Boughton Funeral Service in charge.
