BRITT: Jennie Lewerke, 92, Britt, died Friday (March 21, 1986), at a Britt hospital.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church here with the Rev. James Stultz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
Visitation will be after 9 this morning at Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt, and at the church Tuesday prior to the services.
Born on May 23, 1893, in Nieuwschans, Holland, her parents were Jacob and Susan Mulder. She received her education in Holland before coming to the United States in 1912 with her mother.
She married Harm Lewerke in Hardin County in 1912. The couple farmed in Hardin County until 1925 when they moved to Freeborn County, Minnesota. In 1932, they moved to Britt. Mr. Lewerke died later that year.
Mrs. Lewerke lived with a daughter in Britt since 1952. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Ladies Missionary Fellowship.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. John (Ella) Bergman, Susan McClain, Mrs. Lynn (Jennie) Forshee, Mrs. Clifford (Eileen) Smith, Mrs. Henry (Rosie) Brunson, all of Britt, and Mrs. Gerhardt (Gertrude) Smidt, Parkersburg; three sons, Pete, Garner; Jake, Clarion, and Elzo, Britt; thirty five grandchildren; seventy three great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
