ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, Aug. 10, 1961

Funeral services for Mrs. S. 0. Rogeness, 89 were held July 31 at the Crystal Lake Meth. church with burial in Crystal Lake cemetery.

She died July 29 at Hancock Memorial hospital following a lingering illness.

Rachel Orvick Rogeness was born Sept. 12. 1871 at Haugesund, Norway. Came to the U. S. at age of 15 and lived with her grandparents at Huxley. Married Swen Rogeness May 13. 1895 at Forest City and the couple lived on a farm 2 miles south of Crystal Lake.

She was confirmed in the Luth. church in Norway and was a member of the Meth. church for many years.

Surviving are her husband, 4 daughters, Mrs. Roy (Alice) Grinde of Estherville; Mrs. Fred (Valida) Valentine of Wheaton, Ill.; Lila of Wheaton, Ill. and Jennette at home; 4 sons, Arthur of Ruthven, Grant of Brookfield, Ill, Roy and Sanford of Crystal Lake: 3 brothers, Nels Orvick of Rochester, Mn.; George Orvick of Ketchikan, Alaska; Gunnar Orvick of Haugesund, Norway, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
