ABSTRACTED OBITUARY from Forest City Summit, Aug. 17, 1961

Christian Rasmussen, retired Miller farmer, died Mon. at Mercy hospital in Des Moines following a lingering illness. He was 71 years old.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a. m. this Thurs. at Miller Lutheran church. Rev. Owen Ganstead of Imm. Luth. church will officiate. Mrs. Marlin D. Olson will serve as soloist, acc. by Mrs. Norman Juhl. Pallbearers will be Paul Schott, Merle Hill, Sam Cataldo, Irwin D. Rasmus, Wayne Rasmus and T. C. Rogness.

Burial will be in Concord cemetery. Bohn funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.

Rasmussen was born Feb. 10, 1890 at Lolland, Denmark, the son of Peter and Karen Rasmussen. He married Mary Jensen Feb. 20. 1915.

He came to this area in 1901 and later farmed near Garner, Forest City and Miller.

He was a member of Miller Luth. church. Served as deacon on the church board at the time of his death.

Surviving are two sons, Robert and Dwayne of Forest City; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (June) Porter of Des Moines and Mrs. Jed (Joy) Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Carol of Long Beach, Calif; and Anthony of Garner; two sisters, Mrs. Magnus (Margaret) Anderson, and Mrs. Rudolph (Christine) Gelner, both of Garner; and 7 grandchildren.
