Funeral Friday For Ben Krall
Hancock Farmer Dies 5 Days After Stroke
Garner - Ben Krall died Tuesday night at a Mason City hospital following a stroke suffered last Friday. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Boniface church, and burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery west of Garner.
Mr. Krall was born in Bohemia and came to America with his parents when he was a small boy. The family went to Winneshiek county. Mr. Krall had been in Hancock county since about 1885, working on farms in the Garner vicinity.
He was married to Anna Wellik, December 28, 1884, the couple being the first to be married in the old St. Boniface church which Mr. Krall helped to build. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Calmar for 3 years, returning to Garner where they built the home in West Garner where he had lived since. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Dec. 28, 1939, Mrs. Krall died in February, 1940.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Krall, and all of them survive, as follows: L. J. Krall, Clear Lake; Mrs. Max Schultz, Mason City; Frank Krall, Lakota; Mrs. P. A. Roohrig, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. John Morrissey, Wyoming, Ill.; Miss Stella Krall, Garner; Ben Krall, Jr and Norbert Krall of Mason City.
