Mrs. E. P. Dow, 72, Dies at Her Home in Forest City

Rites to be held Thursday at Olson Funeral Home and Methodist Church

Forest City - Mrs. E. P. Dow, 72, died at her home Tuesday morning following a long illness in which she suffered several strokes.

Funeral services will be held in the Olson funeral home in Forest City Thursday afternoon at 1:30 followed by services in the First Methodist church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. C.H. Peterson will conduct the services. Burial will be in the cemetery at Garner.

Mrs. Dow was born at Carbondale, Ill., and came to Garner with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Shafer, as a girl. She was married at Garner Aug. 11, 1888, to E. P. Dow. The first two years of their married life they lived in Garner and at Rockwell, spending 17 years at Klemme and 10 years at Rake where Mr. Dow was engaged in the mercantile business.

They moved to Forest City 25 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dow celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1938. She took an active part in the North Iowa golden wedding club in which Mr. Dow has served as secretary since its organization.

She is survived by her husband and three children: Elmer of Sheffield; Mrs. Elmer Brooker of Forest City and Marguerite at home.

She was active in the work of the First Methodist church and its organizations, was a member of Eastern Star and Art guild and belonged to the Woman's club for many years.
