Brief History of Charles Monson
Charles J. Monson passed away at the University hospital at Iowa City after a long illness.
He submitted to Monday evening, December 2nd, an operation for the removal of his gall bladder and returned home for a rest. On November 7th he returned to the hospital for a second operation andbeing too weak to survive it, passed away.
Mr. Monson was born at Cassville, Wisconsin, May 15th, 1883, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Monson. When a child he moved with his parents to Wesley, Iowa. It was at this place he met and married Mary France Weig Oct 3, 1903.
To this union were born sixteen children. Three children preceded him in death, and his wife passed away August 7th of this year.
Those surviving him are thirteen children: Frank, Jack, Richard, and Mrs. Ben Riekena of Britt, Theodore of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Clarence
Weiland, Misses Tressie and Marcella and Charles Monson of Wesley, Alfred of Clear Lake, and Herbert and Leonard of Britt; four brothers:
Matt of Mexico, N. Y., William of Springfield, Minn., Henry of Livermore and John of Kanawha; three sisters: Mrs. John Krull of Wells,
Minn., Mrs. Ora Capps of Des Moines and Mrs. Wm. Lloyd of Wesley.Mr. Monson has made his home on farms near Woden, Titonks, Britt, Wesley, Sexton and Clear Lake, so is very well known in these parts. Funeral services were held at the Woden Catholic church Friday morning at 9 o'clock, the Rev. Father Schmeetz of Buffalo Center in charge. Burial was made in the Bingham Township Cemetery - Woden news
