Rites for Herman Weaver scheduled Friday afternoon

Herman J. Weaver, 75, a Buffalo Center native who had lived in Forest City since 1959, died at his home in Forest City Tuesday [4 Dec 1973] afternoon.

Mr. Weaver, a son of Harm and Dena (Abbis) Weaver, was born June 14, 1898, at Buffalo Center. He was married to Katie Nelson June 21, 1920, in Albert Lea.

The couple established their home on a farm north of Thompson, where they lived until moving to Forest City in 1959. Mr. Weaver was a veteran of World War I, and a lifetime member of Forest City American Legion Post 121.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Herman B. Weaver of Lake Mills, Cecil Weaver of Mason City and Dennis Weaver of Clear Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Roy (June) Behrends of Mason City, Mrs. Milo (Lois) Hauan of Forest City and Mrs. Dennis (Bonnie) .Hoeft of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a son, Alan, a daughter, Shirley, and three sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. this Friday at Olson-Petersen funeral home, with the Rev. B. Gordon Packard, pastor of Forest City United Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Madison township cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by members of Forest City American Legion Post 121.
