Services held for Mrs. Kathryn Ubben

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Ubben of Garner were held Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral chapel in Garner. The Rev. Henry T. Hackman officiated.

Mrs. Beverly Cataldo served as organist and soloist. Casket bearers were Gordon Anderson, Ellsworth Hanson, Geoffrey Anderson, Gordon Anderson Jr., Martin Boomgarden and Bruce Steele. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery.

Mrs. Ubben, 86, died Feb. 4 [1980] at a hospital in Mason City.

Kathryn Ubben, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Kolkmann Blank, was born May 15, 1893, at Hayfield. She also attended schools in Hayfield. On Sept. 27, 1911, she married Abram V. Geddes at Hayfield. They farmed in the Hayfield area for many years. She later moved to Sheffield and married William Ubben. After his death, she returned to the Garner area and retired.

She was a member of the Hayfield United Methodist church.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rose Geddes of Garner; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandndchildren; a sister, Mrs. Chester (Evelyn) Geddes of Forest City and a brother, Thomas Blank of Hayfield.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Abram Geddes and William Ubben; a son, Harold Geddes on Dec. 18, 1978, a daughter in infancy; her parents; five sisters, Mrs. Elsie Smith, Mrs. Ada Abele, Mrs. Elizabeth Lackore, Lillian Blank and Mrs. Minnie Pringle; and two brothers, Robert and Ralph Blank.
