Harold Haberkamp 1903 - 1991

Services for Harold E. Haberkamp, 87, Garner, who died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1991 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11 at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner with Rev. Howard Hart as officiant.

Mrs. Connie Greiman, organist, accompanied Tom and Janelle Renner, who sang as a duet.

Casket bearers were Curtis Anderson, Ted Beran, Palmer Helgren, Harlan Helgren, Edward Helgren and Kenneth Kasper.

Burial was in Peace Reformed Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Gamer.

Harold Erick Haberkamp, the son of August and Christina (Josten) Haberkamp, was born September 16, 1903 on a farm in Liberty Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner. After attending the rural schools of Liberty Township, he farmed with his parents.

February 20, 1929 he married Ruth Lenz at Peace Reformed Church. They farmed on the home place, until they retired in 1970 and moved into Garner. They would have been married for 62 years in February.

He was a life-time member of Peace Reformed Church and had served as a Deacon and Elder. He had been a school director in Liberty Township and was a charter member of Hancock County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Haberkamp of Garner; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Helgren and her husband, Ernest of Thompson, and Mrs. Bethel Lemke and her husband, Ferd of Meservey; six grandchildren, Shirley, Beth, Kay, Palmer, Harlan and Edward; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. E. J. (Naomi) Haberkamp of San Jose, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Christina (Josten) Haberkamp; three sisters, Mrs. Emil (Ella) Lau, Ethel Haberkamp and Mrs. Lee (Lily) Hammon; and three brothers, Verner Haberkamp, E. J . Haberkamp and Raymond Haberkamp.
