Rev. Jerry WolcottMrs. Mary McMahon, the daughter of Louis N. and Clara (Brennan) Kent was born May 8, 1911 at Saunemin, Illinois. She moved with her family to Wesley where she graduated from Wesley High School in 1929. She received her "Normal Training Teacher's Certificate" at Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and then taught in the rural schools near Wesley. October 1, 1935 she was married to Thomas A. McMahon at Wesley. They had the McMahon Funeral Home in Wesley until 1947 when they moved to Pocahontas where they owned the McMahon Funeral Home until 1961. May 1, 1961 they purchased the "Blossom Shop" in Garner
which Mary operated until her death. She had attended the American Floral Institute in Chicago in 1961.She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, C.D. of A., Rosary Society, the VFW Auxiliary, the Garner Chamber of Commerce, Homemakers Club and the Wa-tan-ye Club of Garner.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Ray (Patricia) Foster of Princeton, Illinois, Mrs. Eugene (Mary Lou) Rosacker of Mason City, Richard McMahon of Underwood, Mrs,. Larry (Jean) Bell of Garner and James McMahon and his wife, Laurel of Garner; 10 grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Kent of Algona; a brother-in-law, Harold Redlick of Monticello, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
She wasi preceded in death by her husband, Tom McMahon, May 15, 1962; two infant sons, Michael and Robert; her parents; two brothers, Lewis Kent and Richard Kent; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Redlick and Mrs. Mabel Fox.
