Obituary

ECKARD ALOLPH ZEIDLER. A Klemme resident for 46 years, died at his home, Thursday, February
20, 1958, at the age of 75 years. He was born March 26, 1883 on a farm near Howard Lake,
Minnesota, being the second in a family of twelve children. His father - Carl Zeidler, His
mother - Eva Haman. Both were natives of Germany.

At the age of 19, he moved with other members of his family, to Jefferson, Oklahoma, where
he grew to manhood.

In 1910, at the age of 27, Eckard Zeidler and Minnie Velau were married, by a Methodist
pastor, at the home of his brother in Medford, Oklahoma.

They commenced housekeeping on a farm near Jefferson, and after two years moved to Klemme,
Iowa. where they have since resided.

Their only child. a son named Howard, was born to them at Klemme, March 2nd, 1913, but he
lived only 18 days.

Eckard Zeidler was a carpenter by trade, in this work he was slow moving but steady, and
whatever he built was strong and stayed together, and thru these many years his services
were constantly in demand.

He built a neat, modest home in 1940, where he and his wife have resided these past years.

Eckard Zeidler was always interested in church activities, as a Youth he was organist in the
Methodist Church at, Jefferson for several years; he played a bass horn in the local band;
he sang in the church choir, and sang with a male quartet, his was a low bass voice.

He continued his singing in Klemme, and always attended church services until his health
failed.

Five years ago (1953), he developed a heart ailment which stewed him up as a carpenter, but
gave him more time to go fishing. He enjoyed fishing very much and followed this sport all
his life.

Finally a stroke ended his life.

He leaves besides his wife, Minnie:

Three brothers: Rev. O. W. Zeidler, San Diego, California; Alfred H. Zeidler, Austin, Texas
and Rev. R. J. Zeidler, Topeka, Kansas.

Two sisters: Mrs. C. H. (Lydia) Schurmann, Medford, Oklahoma; Mrs. 011ie (Mathilda) Hulze,
Geary, Oklahoma.
