Peter Frandson Dies at 79, Lived Here 60 Years

Retired Upper Flat Farmer Came From Denmark in 1893

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 5 for Peter Frandson at the Evangelical Free church in Britt with the Rev. E. Walter Lindgren, local pastor, and the Rev. Paul Wolstenholm, of Minneapolis, Minn., a former pastor of the Britt Church of the Nazarene, in charge of the last rites. Burial was made in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery at Britt.

Peter Frandson was born in Loland, Denmark, Feb. 17, 1874, the son of Hans and Sidle Anderson Frandson. In 1893 he came to the States, and a few years later, Caroline Olson, a native of Skoane, Sweden, came to the Land of Promise. The two, having been sweethearts in earlier days, were married in the Evangelical Free church in Britt, May 12, 1897.

Following marriage Mr. and Mrs, Frandson spent one year in Britt then went farming north of town, following that occupation until about eight years ago when they retired to a home in the west part of Britt. For a few years, while health permitted, Mr. Frandson occupied himself with painting and wood work.

For many years Mr. and Mrs Frandson had been members of the Upper Flat church, and after retirement to Britt had their memberships transferred to the Evangelical Free church.

Mr. Frandson was a member of the Danish Brotherhood at Clear Lake, also the I.0.0.F. Lodge at Britt, and the Modern Woodman if America.

Mr. Frandson became ill about three weeks ago and had since been hospitalized in the Hancock County Memorial Hospital. He gradually failed until death came Friday, Oct. 9 to relieve his suffering. He had reached the age of 79 years, 7 months and 22 days.

Surviving are three daughter and two sons: Emma Gilbert and Helen Gruder, Chicago, Ill.; Nan, of Mason City; Harry, of Ventura; Charles, of Britt. There are five grandchildren: Karla Kay, Sue Ellen, and Debra Joanne Frandson, Britt; Kathleen Ann Frandson, Ventura; and James Francis Gruder, Chicago; a brother, Frederick Frandson, Ringsted, Denmark, and a sister, Mrs. Cecilie Pedersen, Lolland, Denmark.

Mrs. Frandson died in Febuary, 1951; a son Axel, in 1915, and a daughter, Katherine Middleton, R. N., in May 1953.
