Emilie Wilhelmina Elizabeth Vescelius, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Schroeder Schubert, passed away Thursday, June 8, 1978 at the Westview Manor Mursing Home in Britt, Iowa. She was 92 years, 1 month and 1 day of age at the time of her death.

She was born May 7, 1886 in a sod house at Long Island, Kansas. In the spring of 1891 she along with her family pioneered to a farm northeast of Britt, where she grew up. Emilie was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and was confirmed in 1901. She was married to William Vescelius April 24, 1934. She affiliated with the Congregational Church of which her husband was a member.

She was an active member of the Women's Fellowship as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Sunshine Circle of King's Daughters since Decemer 1925, the United Spanish War Veterans Duncan Camp Auxiliary, the Hancock County Memorial Historical Society, the National Geographic Society and the North Main Club for many years. On December 15, 1970 she moved into Prairie View Apartments at Garner, Iowa and for the last 3 months she had been a resident of the Westview Manor Nursing Home in Britt, Iowa.

She is survived by her step son, Miles Vescelius of Mason City, Iowa, along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband William in May 1947, her parents and brothers.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, Iowa.
