Services for Virginia Sankey, 82, of Garner who died Monday, June 30, 1998, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Kieschnick officiating. Music was provided by Beverly Cataldo.

Casket bearers were Kenny Sankey, Kevin Sankey, Kraig Sankey, Delbert Sankey, Rick Sankey, Mike Rollefson, Denny Swalve and Larry O'Toole.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel.

Eldora Virginia Sankey, the daughter of Howard and Rebecca (Propst) Lowman, was born January 7, 1916 at Brownsville, TX. She moved with her family to a farm northwest of Algona where she attended the rural schools.

On October 11, 1933 she was married to Delbert H. Sankey at Lotts Creek, IA. They farmed north of Hoberton, west of LuVerne, and in 1938 moved west of Garner. In 1953, they moved into Garner where they operated a trucking business until 1968. Virginia operated Sankey's New & Used Furniture Store from 1969 to 1981. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and her doll collection. She was a member of the Birthday Club.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert H. Sankey of Garner; two sons, Eugene Sankey and his wife, Marie of Garner and Bruce Sankey and his wife, Betty, of Garner; eleven grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Perry Lowman and his wife, Marie of Los Angeles, CA and Howard Lowman of Algona; a sister, Nellie Kern of Algona and a sister-in-law, Irene Lowman of Albert Lea, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil Lowman.
