Funeral services for Alfred R. Harringa, 68, of Garner who died Friday, Nov. 22, 1996 at his home were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, with Rev. Clyde Kieschnick officiating.

Music was provided by Beverly Cataldo.

Casket bearers were Graydon Lau, Stuart Wilder, Ralph Oudekerk, Gordon Oudekerk, Albert Oudekerk, and Fred Greiman.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with graveside military rites by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Alfred Rueban Harringa, the son of Herman Occo and Freida Reka (Thorn) Harringa, was born June 25, 1928, on a farm near Woden. He attended the rural schools of Bingham Township and Hayfield Community Schools. He had lived in the Hayfield and Garner area where he did custom corn shelling and trucking. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Alfred enjoyed working with livestock.

He is survived by three sisters, Myrtle Oudekerk and her husband, Henry of Clear Lake, Sophia Oudekerk of Morrison, IL, and Hazel Scholl of Mason City; a brother, Henry Harringa of Garner; a sister-in-law, Anna Harringa of Forest City; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Herbert Harringa and Ben Harringa.
