Services for Burrell E. Buren, Sr., 85, Britt, who died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 1989 at the Westview Care Center in Britt, were held Saturday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt with Rev. Marvin Bries officiating.

Music was provided by organist, LaRae Hobscheidt, who accompanied soloist, Monica Buren.

Casket bearers were Pete Charboneaux, Roy Charbonneaux, Harold Jacobson, Frank Whetstone, Bob Bravick and Jim Ryburn.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Burrell E. Buren, Sr., the son of Walter E. and Mary E. Reynolds Buren, was born June 19, 1904 at Leland. He received his education in the Litchfield, MN High School. He was associated with his father in the grocery business. At one time, Burrell was a salesman for the Baby Ruth Candy Co.

June 19, 1928, he married Alice A. Smith at St. John's Catholic Church in Darwin. The couple established their home in Britt. Burrell owned and operated the Buren Cash Grocery Store until 1950. He was employed with Cassidy Furniture for a time. He later was Water Superintendent for the city of Britt until his retirement in 1967.

Burrell enjoyed gardening, flowers and yard work.

He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Burrell W. and his wife, Sheryl, and John, all of Britt, Mary and her husband, Jerry Devine of Estherville, Robert of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren, Vickie Buren Noble, Melanie and Monica Buren, Jonathon Buren, Danny and Barbara Devine, Mark, Kristie, Bobby and Russell Buren; three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Jessica and Valerie Noble.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice, April 3, 1975; and two half-sisters.
