1933-1998

Services for Harold L. Holck, 64, of Britt who died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Mattson officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Donna Tech, who accompanied soloist, Beverly Cataldo, and congregational hymns. Ushers were Melvin Pergande and Paul Smith.

Casket bearers were Mary Holck, Dan Veldhouse, Curt Holck, Mark Holck, John Hana and Dan Nielsen.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the Britt Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Visitation was held Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Home.

Harold Leroy Holck, the son of Adolph and Rose Louise Christine (Dallman) Holck, was born October 5, 1933, at Britt. He attended Britt Community School and served his country in the U.S. Army begin stationed in Barrow, AK. After the service, he returned to Britt.

August 5, 1960, he married Marilyn Rhedin at the First Lutheran Church in Britt. They moved to California for a few years and then to Omaha, NE, where Harold worked for Ceco Steel Corp. as a truck driver. Before retiring, he was recognized by the company with an award for 20 years of safe driving. In 1986, he retired and moved to Britt.

Harold enjoyed camping with his family and friends and always looked forward to the Spring and Fall seasons when he helped out in the fields. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his children, Troy Holck and special friend, Gretchen of Olathe, KS. Taun Papp and husband, Timothy of Logan, and Teresa Holck Cox and husband, Ron of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Dewey of Clear Lake, and Verna Alke and husband, George of Britt; a brother, Maynard Holck and wife, Shirley of Britt: and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Irene Schoneman and Erma Bohling.
