Services for Maurice E. Butts, 54, of Britt, who died Saturday, July 20, 1991 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt with Rev. Brandt Freeburg of the Nazarene Church as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, accompanied soloist, Cary Brown.

Casket bearers were Dean Eliason, Merrill Olson, James Winter, Dale Winter, Paul Peterson and James Ryburn.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Maurice Eugene Butts, the son of Clarence Vernon and Emma E. (Perkins) Butts, was born February 17, 1937 at Britt. He attended Britt Community Schools, graduating in 1955. Maurice had worked on the railroad, was a mechanic and also a carpenter. For the last 19 years, he had worked at Marting Manufacturing in Britt. He had been in ill health for the last year of his life.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Marian Winter and her husband, John of Buffalo Center; three nephews, James Winter of Forest City, Dale Winter of Nora Springs and Frank Butts of Berwyn, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence V. Butts, September 21, 1984; his mother, Emma E. Butts, September 13, 1970; his brother, Clarence A. Butts, May 30, 1980; and two nephews, Keith Winter and Gary John Winter.
