Services for Annette G. Friedow, 85, of Britt, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 1994, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Britt with Rev. Alton Wagner as officiant. Mrs. Helen McLaughlin will be the reader.

Mrs. Donna Tech, organist, will accompany Charles McLaughlin, soloist. Ushers will be Bill Friedow and Earl Hesley.

Casket bearers will be Mark Friedow, Mitchel Friedow, Rory Friedow, Scott Friedow, Kyle Friedow, Shawn Kelly, Brian Kelly, Barry Kelly and Patrick Kelly.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Annette Gretchen Friedow, the daughter of Herman F. and Hattie M. (Thieben) Koch, was born on a farm near Dike, June 18, 1908. In 1911, the family moved to a farm in Erin Township where they lived until 1920 when they moved into Britt. Annette attended the rural schools of Erin Township, graduated from Britt High School in 1927 and then continued her education at several colleges during her teaching career. She taught for 28 years in the rural schools near Britt and for 11 years in the Corwith-Wesley Community School system.

July 6, 1968, she married Floyd Friedow at the United Methodist Church in Kanawha. They lived on the Friedow farm southeast of Britt. After Floyd's death, she moved to the Eastside Apartments in Britt in December of 1983.

She had been a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship since 1927. She also belonged to Nota Bene Study Club, Hancock County Hospital Auxiliary, Hancock County Historical Society, Happy Hour Birthday Club of Erin Township, Britt Senior Citizens "Silver Stars" and the Iowa Natural Heritage Society.

She is survived by Audrey Friedow of Madison, SD, Verlyn and Blanche Friedow of Kanawha, Bob and Ardith (Friedow} Kelly of Charles City. Beryl Friedow of Kanawha; 18 step-grandchildren; 32 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Friedow, July 5, 1983; her parents; a sister, Edna Koch Friedow; Doyce Friedow, Milton Friedow, June Schaefer Friedow, Jayana Friedow, Martha Friedow Brass and Monty Friedow.
