Services conducted for Paul Lovick

Funeral services for Forest City area farmer, Paul H. Lovick, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Immanuel, Lutheran church in Forest City. The Rev. Steve Dornbusch and the Rev. Ole Winter officiated.

Mrs. Allan Hanna was soloist and Leonard Markusen, organist. Honorary pall bearers were Marvin Bratrud, James Fevold, Ernest Haugen, Lester Nelson, Leslie Olson and Dean Swanson.

Casket bearers were Kenneth Brakke, Gary Hagen, David Lovick, Lyle Hanna, Scott Ollenburg and Larry Toresdahl. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Forest City American Legion Post. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery with the Petersen Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lovick, 63, died Saturday at a Mason City hospital after nearly a two year battle with cancer.

Paul H. Lovick was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Mt. Valley township in Winnebago county, the son of Henry and Ida Hanson Lovick. He was baptized by the Rev. Granskov at the former Bethel Lutheran church and confirmed by the Rev. Caltvedt at Fertile Lutheran church. Lovick attended rural school and was graduated from Forest City high school in 1939.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from October, 1942, to December, 1945, spending 38 months aboard the USS Salt Lake City. After his discharge, Lovick worked as a farm hand until he began farming in 1947.

Nov. 20, 1949, he was married to Gladys E. Fluhrer at Emmanuel Lutheran church in Grafton. The Lovicks have lived and farmed in the Forest City area their entire married life.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys, a son, Dennis Lovick of Forest City and a daughter, Barbara Lovick of Mason City.

Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Murlette Hagen of Lake Mills, Mrs. Don (Amy) Brakke of Forest City, James Lovick of Fertile, Mrs. Harvey (Irene) Brakke of Clear Lake, Mrs. Raymond (Pearl) Hanna of Forest City, Leo Lovick of Ackley, Ardie Lovick of Washington, Mrs. Gordon (Alice) Toresdahl of Clear Lake, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Ollenburg of Ventura, Mrs. Frank (Doris) Bonnstetter of Omaha, Neb., and Larry Lovick of Forest City, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
