Mrs. Myrtle Haan
1914-1985

Services for Mrs. Myrtle Haan, 71, of Garner, who died Friday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Msgr. Roger O'Brien as celebrant.

Ushers were Robert Kral and Elmer Urich.

Casketbearers were her grandsons: Shane Maben, Bryan Haan, Darren Haan, Shannon Maben, Barry Haan and Thomas Haan.

Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery at Garner. Visitation and a Scriptural Wake Service were held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. Myrtle Pauline Haan, the daughter of Henry O. and Belle I. (Peterson) Schreiber, was born September 18, 1914 at Humboldt. She attended the rural schools of Humboldt County.

April 17, 1939 she was married to Edward John Haan at Forest City. They vegetable farmed in the Crystal Valley area in Crystal Township and later in the Badger area. In 1948 they moved to Garner where her husband, Bill, worked for the Northern Natural Gas Company.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner.

She is survived by her children, William Haan and his wife, Joyce, of Garner; James E. Haan and his wife, Nancy Jo, of Garner; Mrs. Zita Maben of Mason City and Mrs. Ralph (Irene) Thomas of Clinton, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers: Ernest Schreiber and his wife, Marie of Moberly, Mo.; Lester Schreiber and his wife, Mae of Woolstock; Allen Schreiber and his wife, Helen of Fort Dodge; Peter Schreiber and his wife, Pauline of Badger; two sisters: Mrs. Bjarne (Dorothy) Hendrickson of Humboldt and Mrs. Floyd (Stella) Miller of Estherville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lawrence (Hattie) Spieker of Britt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on August 24, 1982; her son, John A. Haan on November 15, 1984; her great-grandson, David Feist; her parents; her sister, Mrs. Earl (Marcella) Crossley; and two brothers, Harold Schreiber and Lynn Schreiber.
